Sequel to Empty Nests
Nested Hearts Book Two
Two very different men have a chance at happiness, but only if they can let go of their painful pasts and allow love to take precedence.
After spending his teens and twenties raising his son, James Maron is now dating Gabriel Juarez, the wealthy and sophisticated CFO of the TechPrim technology empire. But after a life of proudly holding his head above the poverty line with the ethos of work, priorities, responsibility, and thrift, he is not looking for a Sugar Daddy, he does not need to be rescued, and Gabe’s wealth is as terrifying as feeling love for the first time.
Gabe has never been good at balancing his high-pressure job with his relationships. Money usually clears most of the bumps, and when a boyfriend walks away, Gabe figures it’s for a good reason. But James isn’t like other boyfriends. He doesn’t want Gabe’s money for one, and if Gabe wants to keep his relationship together, he will have to finally face the ghosts of his own past and reconsider his priorities.

While the story line is a bit fantastic in scope it is well written. The character development continues from the first book and is well supported. Touches of angst and self-doubt with a few romantic scenes support the story.Product details

Bowerbirds Nested Hearts Book 2 edition by Ada Maria Soto Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
Bowerbirds is the second book in the Nested Hearts series by Ada Maria Soto. While this book is part of a series, it can be read and enjoyed as a standalone novel with ease.
In the first chapter, the author did a great job of drawing the reader into the story. By the end of the chapter, I was excited to finish the story. The author was able to portray a unique and original voice that carried throughout the book. The author created a world that was easy to picture and included a place and time frame that helped. The author’s world was easy to connect too. The pace of the story was a bit slow at some points and fast is others. The characters come across as unique and realistic. I liked that the two main characters, Gabriel and James each had flaws making them believable. They seemed to leap off the page.
The point of view alternated between Gabriel and James, giving the reader a glimpse inside both characters. The changing point of view was done with care so the reader did not get lost or repeat story lines. The main conflict of the story is Gabriel and James making their relationship work when they are from two different worlds including financial. I loved how the story played out. It was hard to predict what would happen next. The level of conflict was perfect, anymore and it would have detracted from the overall storyline. The dialogue between the characters was genuine and distinctive. The characters voice matched not only the setting but fit their overall personality. The ending was a bit predictable but the author takes the reader on a wonderful journey. I hope we get to see these characters again in the future.
Bowerbirds is the second installment to the ongoing love story between a billionaire and a blue collar lover. As was quite evident in the first book, James is still having a bit of a hard time comprehending he is, in fact, in a relationship with a man openly. I think he is having more problems with the fact he is not or never is going to be as successful or as rich as Gabe would ever be. This part is a bit too close to real life for many have I seen a partner drift away because of their insecurities. Now, is James going to be allowed to wallow in his self-made misery or will Gabe man up and demand he be a part of James' life?
This is a fun read, not quite as fun as the first book. I guess it is because we have reached the peak of the developing relationship and I am a bit anxious for the HEA. Right now, there is no HEA, there is an HFN but the HEA is just round the corner. Just not in this book. I should not gripe, I know this is a trilogy and will get the ever after I keep hoping for once that book is out. Until then, we all have to contend with James growing up. He is kind of stunted, psychologically, trapped in the day and age he became a father. He is just getting out into the world and his son could never be happier than seeing his father finally get his teen-age dreams fulfilled. Is it Gabe or not? It has to be. If not, well.... I won't be happy for sure but the author will not be that cruel and no, there is no other man hinted on here. Sorry, rambling, but I really want that third book now. Especially as Gabe did something long coming and James is finally smiling out in the open and ready for the next step. Whatever that next step is going to be.
Note Bower Birds CAN be read as a standalone, however, it is best to read the first book to find out how Gabe and James met.
3 Hearts Reviewed by Aerin
This is the second book in the Nested Hearts series and the books need to be read in order, as trying to read this one as a standalone will make no sense.
I liked this a bit less than book one, so I’ll say this is a good solid 3 stars. If you’re looking for a book with sex steamy enough to set your kindle on fire, keep moving; this isn’t one of those books.
Bowerbirds picks up exactly where Empty Nests left off, and while I was hoping more progress will be made in the sex department, that part of Gabe’s and James’s relationship was slow going. I did enjoy seeing their relationship progress and become more serious. Although James’s insecurities and penny-pinching tendencies were just as annoying in this book as they were in the previous one.
As much as I hoped he was going to get over his virginal mind-set and become a sexy creature, it didn’t happen. In fact, I’d go as far as to say James is why I can’t say I loved this book. He was so stubborn when it came to allowing Gabe to buy presents for him, and his constant pride getting in the way of things pissed me off.
Gabe is still as sexy as he was in the first book, and I liked him just as much this time around. I loved how serious he was about his relationship with James and how focused he was on improving his relationship with Dylan for James’s sake.
I went crazy for the whole time Gabe and Dylan spent time mini golfing and bonding. I think that was my favorite part of the whole book, because these two are my favorite characters.
Dylan is an amazing son and I loved him to pieces. I can’t wait for the next book, because I have a feeling his ankle injury is going to affect his scholarship, and Gabe will step in to help. I really hope James stops being an idiot and gets over his pride, because it’s about time.
And please, may I ask for some steamy sex? It’s not too much to ask for, is it?
While the story line is a bit fantastic in scope it is well written. The character development continues from the first book and is well supported. Touches of angst and self-doubt with a few romantic scenes support the story.
